On-Location Programs

We bring dance classes to you, complete with an instructor and designed to compliment required academic standards. By request our staff works collectively with school administrators and teachers to further the education of art and movement on location for convenience and overall effectiveness in reaching those interested in the benefits of a dance education.

Below are samples of our "On-Location Programs"

Accelerated Ballet Class

The Accelerated Ballet Class at Ellis Elementary is funded by the Northern Illinois Community Foundation. This special three year program will take sixth grade students through 6 levels of ballet training. At the end of the three years we hope to have interested students auditioning for the company. This program also promises to enhance the students’ life with not only quality dance training but also the qualities of discipline, teamwork, positive self image through achievement and a good work ethic. Qualities that will go far beyond the dance studio.

Century 21 Community Learning Centers Afterschool Program

Answering to the needs of quality after-school programming the Rockford School District developed an initiative utilizing community wide agencies to lend their expertise in the programming and quality staffing of after school sites. Under the umbrella of the Discovery Center, the dance company visits 5 schools four times throughout the school year and leads rhythmic movement activity classes to K-5 school aged children. This is an example of our continued efforts to bring dance to underserved populations enabling children to explore dance through movement to put feeling to form. Supporting the academic and disciplinary focus of this program, our guest artist links dance to other interdisciplinary areas, providing an understanding of movement and the various fields of study, such as math, reading, and science.

Rockford Arts Revival

This popular program had a four year life made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts - Arts In Education grant through the Rockford School District 205. It included multiple art organizations. This four year program visited over five hundred 2nd, 5th and 8th grade classrooms. Students in the Rockford Public Schools were able to experience the arts through Language Arts, social studies, and math lessons. This grant also supported the All-City Musical which we provided choreography. This program reached over 25,000 students and proved to be a positive asset to the art organizations, the school district, the teachers and the students.

School Tours

In conjunction with the some of the spring ballets, school demonstration tours are a convenient way to bring a performance to the school. Conducted in an assembly fashion, excerpts of a selected ballet are performed along with a narrative of the ballet story line from our Artistic Director. Complete with costumes and props, this program triggers the interests of dance in young and old alike.

Tours are arranged through the support of sponsorship, grant endowments or in-kind donations from the school or patron.
