Outreach
The Rockford Dance Company Outreach Program uses dance to enhance learning, build confidence, and promote integrity.
RDC has a diverse program of in-house, collaborative and on-site outreach activities in the community.
In collaboration with the Discovery Center, Rockford Art Museum, and Rockford Symphony Orchestra, RDC supports education with creative approaches to learning. Programs include Terrific Tuesday, Fine Arts Friday, field trips, Camp Collage, Reading Readiness, and performances for school groups.
For the greater community, RDC offers programs such as, Girl Scouts on the Move, and Ballerina Birthday Parties.The RDC performing ensembles offer school matinees of mainstage performances as well as visit schools, retirement homes, and festivals to introduce the art of dance to the greater Rockford region. This past year, the Rockford Dance Company had over 8800 students participate in these various programs and we continue our mission of promoting the art of dance in the Rockford community.
In addition to these educational initiatives, programs for Rockford Alignment, Barbara Olson Center of Hope, and the Rockford Rescue Mission have provided the joy of dance to underserved populations. RDC also works with Rockford Park District’s Therapeutic Division offering the “Chance to Dance” program to children with physical and cognitive challenges.
