New Innovative Programs

Rockford Dance Company is always interested in developing special programs to promote the art of dance to new populations. Continue to check theses out since we always hope to have a new innovative idea. If you have an idea for a dance class please share it with us.

 

Chance to Dance

The Rockford Park District and the Rockford Dance Company have teamed up to provide, Chance to Dance, a semester-long dance program for youth with disabilities. This class is a technique-based dance program that lets participants explore creative expression in a non-judgmental setting creating an enjoyable opportunity for expressive movements. Learn basic dance skills, rhythm, and creative expression in a real dance studio. Please wear moveable clothing such as sweat pants, t-shirts, and soft dance shoes (or go barefoot! - no socks please). Parents are encouraged to stay and watch from the observation rooms.

Adapted Dance Class

For Teens and adults with phyiscal disabilities to explore dance movements and the possible creation of an "Adapted Dance Company". The session will explore dance movements and personal creaetive expression.

Step Into Wellness

Adults and seniors can benefit from this gentle movement class. Balance and mobility are the main focus. Postural strategy, flexibility, gait pattern, and strength are a few of the components to this enjoyable movement class.

Baile Initiative

Introduction to Ballet technique for Latin American students, ages 6 to 12 years old. The classes will be held during the regular RDC school year. Spaces are still available. Ballet is a well structured dance form that includes discipline, self awareness and the building of self esteem through individual accomplishment. Van a tener 31 clases entre el tiempo de clases regulares del ano de escuela, que empieza el 17 de Septiembre hasta el 13 de Mayo.TODAVIA HAY ESPACIO DISPONIBLE EN EL PROGRAMA!! Home School Class

This program is specifically designed tomeet the individual needs of home school groups. Class Options can include fitness, dace technique in ballet, modern or jazz, creative expression, and choreography. An Arts integrated lesson is also available which cobines elements of dance with math, language, science or social studies.
